Like some people mentioned, this movie is not just about religious unjust practices against women. Its about throwing off the evil practices from our society. The evil practices that we brought through ages in the name of tradition and culture. Here the great Indian kitchen was in the right step by showcasing evil practices.
What the rest of India think of Kerala contradicts the movie’s stance. The rest of India knows Kerala as a Matrilineal society and the women empowerment was possible because of matrilineal (not matriarchal) society structure. But the movie shows Kerala society is as patriarchal as the rest of India.
